Welcome

Thank you for visiting the web site of The Rye Holler Boys.  If you love to listen to Bluegrass and Gospel music then you are at  the right place.  We may be young but we love picking and singing this special type of music that we hope to keep alive for generations.  We all admire the older traditional Bluegrass and Gospel sound and we have been inspired by so many artists.  Legends such as Jimmy Martin, Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver,  and Dr. Ralph Stanley are some of our heroes.  We also have admiration for the newer Bluegrass Bands such as Cody Shuler and Pine Mountain Railroad, Dailey and Vincent, The Grascals, and many more.  Our goal is to try and please our crowd everywhere we go and we have played at various venues and festivals all over Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee.  We proudly took the stage at the famous Ernest Tubb Record Shop during the week of The IBMA in October, 2009. .  This is the second longest running radio show in history.  We also have played at Bluegrass First Class for the past two years, The Red, White, and Bluegrass Festival in Morganton,  Cherokee Bluegrass Festival and many more. We did our first live Internet special on Bluegrass tv.tv, and were very excited about it.  We were especially honored to have opened up for The Issacs, and a legend Earl Scruggs in Cashiers NC.  We are proud to announce we have been invited back to Cashiers again in July, 2010.     We also take pride in singing in churches as we all love to sing Gospel Music.  Some of our favorite Gospel groups, are The Inspirations, The Lewis Family, and Goldwing Express.  We have proudly recorded four CD’s:  First Ever, The Old Home Place, Keeping It Alive and our latest entitled “The Ole Gravel Road”.  Also Jacob Jones, our upright bass player has released “Mountain Reflections” which features Jacob playing Bass, Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, and Fiddle.

Our members include Alan King, who just recently turned 17, he plays the Banjo and Guitar.  Alan’s younger brother Adam King, age 16, on mandolin and vocals.  Will Howell, age 15, is the Lead Vocalist, and Lead Guitar, and plays some on the upright bass.  Jacob Jones, age 15, plays Upright Bass, Clawhammer Banjo, Fiddle  and Vocals.

The Rye Holler Boys are managed by their parents.  As a team approach, they all work together to help the boys set up, sell CD’s, and takes care of the booking of the boys.  The boys always draw a crowd with their clean cut appearance, positive attitude, and especially the talent that they all have been given.  They will tell you “They are all Christians and that is very important to them”, this is shown in aspects of their character.

The name of the group, “The Rye Holler” is near the King Boys home and a place where all four of them have shared special memories.  When deciding what to name their group, it just seemed natural to call them “The Rye Holler Boys”.

These young musicians are truly dedicated and willing to keep Bluegrass and Gospel Music alive and each one have made that their goal in life, so come on back, watch us grow, and watch us make our dreams come true.  With God All Things Are Possible.
